It's Official...she's a TEENAGER!

My GOODNESS--is time flying or what!?!  I can't believe I officially have 2 teenagers in this house--and that they haven't killed eachother yet!  J/K--they actually get along pretty well!  Erin turned the big 13 yesterday, and we were able to take her out to eat on Friday and SURPRISE--her favorite--SHOPPING for her birthday!  Then her cousins took her out on the town yesterday for some birthday fun!  I love Erin so much because, well, she reminds me the most of ME!  Here are 13 things we LOVE about our Erin:
13.  Erin is LOUD--she doesn't have an "inside voice"--so even when we're old, and deaf, we will be able to hear her!
12.  Erin is friendly--she loves people, and isn't afraid to talk to just about anyone!
11.  Erin is SMART--yep, she's smart as a whip, even though she will tell you no she's not, and she hates school, you should see her AIMS scores--the girl is amazingly smart!
10.  Erin loves music, you rarely see her without her ipod somewhere close!  She also loves Facebook & keeping in touch with her friends 24/7!
9.  Erin is a great babysitter, and she loves her brothers and sisters.  She also loves to TEASE them as only she can do!
8.  Erin has a great SMILE--and she is always wearing it!
7.  She is naturally talented at just about everything she tries--except maybe ice skating--I heard that didn't go very well--and she brought a few people down with her!
6.  She can talk people into just about ANYTHING using her charm and wit.  I am amazed with what she got away with at school with her teachers--she will probably be able to talk her way out of a few speeding tickets too!
5.  She has the best LAUGH--and can get anyone giggling right along with her!
4.  She is STRONG!  They have been doing a Crossfit Kids class--and this kid is amazingly STRONG!  I am proud of her!
3.  She has the best complexion, and a beautiful skin tone--she doesn't even have to wear ANY make-up!  SOOOOooooooo jealous!  =)  She gets a tan without ever burning either--amazing!
2.  She has a strong will--which in some ways is hard for me to deal with--but I also know that she will need to be strong and stubborn to grow up in this world full of wickedness.  I know that Erin will be strong headed when it comes to standing up for herself and choosing the right!
1.  Erin is the BEST DAUGHTER IN THE WORLD--and for sure MY FAVORITE!  (Oh, did I say that already?)

We love you sweetheart!  Happy Birthday!

Small Town 4th of July!

This year we went up to Heber for a good old fashioned 4th of July celebration, and for the Leonard & Mary Allen Family Reunion!  We had over 100 people there--can you believe all of those people come from only 2 brothers, Todd's Dad--Bob, and his Uncle Glenn Allen!  Glenn had 6 children, and Bob had 9, and WOW do we have a HUGE fun family!  It was great to get together with people we hadn't seen in forever, and to talk, and play together!  It was also fun for my kids to get to meet even MORE cousins!  They LOVED it!  I had over 200 pictures (surprise...) so I decided to spare you and collage them!  Enjoy!

Happy Birthday Abster!

I have been so neglectful on my blogging this summer--mostly because I feel like I have been in "survival mode".  You know the feeling where you are just barely keeping your head above water--and feel like you might drown at any minute--but I have been trying to "just keep swimming", as Dory would say!  Anyway, my sweet, wonderful, patient, most amazing daughter Abby had birthday number 10 a few weeks back while we were at Lake Powell, and has been gently reminding me ever since that I have forgotten to blog about it!  Truth be told, Abby had a pretty crappy birthday!  It seems like every year on her birthday she has an ear infection!  It's like a birthday tradition for her to come home from the beach with one, and it STINKS!  This year, we were at the lake on a super fun houseboat, and she couldn't even SWIM because her ear was hurting her so bad!  Luckily, someone had some half-used antibiotics, and she was able to get on them and she only missed a few days of swimming.
Here are 10 things we love about our ABSTER:
10.  She is SO sweet to those around her.  Abby is a very caring and loving person.  She is truly a friend to everyone!
9.  Abby is very patient and easy going.  It takes a lot to get her rattled--although certain people in this family have a knack for doing it--(Josh and Erin without mentioning any names...)
8.  Abby is a READER!  I'm excited to have another reader in the house who will read all these books I bought for Emie years ago!
7.  Abby works hard at anything she does, she doesn't give up.  She worked very hard on her math grade last year, bringing it up in one semester from a C to an A.  She stayed after school for tutoring, and persevered, even though it was hard.
6.  Abby is a great babysitter, and loves her brothers and sisters--especially baby Jack--I love to watch her with him, she is so kind and loving--she will be a great mother someday!
5.  Abby speaks kindly to people, she doesn't lose her temper much or yell and scream.
4.  Abby always reminds us that we need to read scriptures or pray or have family night.  We are grateful to have children who love to choose the right!
3.  Abby is a LOVER--she loves to hug & kiss us, and she has the cutest way of puckering her lips to the side when she kisses you.  She is adorable.
2.  Abby sets a good example to those around her, she is not afraid to choose the right, even if she is alone in doing it.  She has a wonderful testimony, and is not afraid to bear it!
1.  She is the BEST DAUGHTER IN THE WORLD!  And for sure my favorite!
We love you Abby!  Happy Birthday!

Lake Powell 2010!

This year, Dr. Chris (Todd's Brother) & Cindy invited us to Lake Powell for their houseboat timeshare vacation.  We pretty much jumped at the chance to go since it has been 16 years since we have been on a houseboat vacation at Lake Powell--the last time was when we were first married & we had no kids!  It was their family, our family, Todd's sister Katie's family, and Cindy's sister Lisa's family.  Almost 30 people in all!  Oh my gosh did we have a BLAST!  We found an amazing little cove to camp in, and the weather, and the skiing were awesome!  The little kids had a great time fishing, and jumping off the houseboat, watching movies, EATING--of course, and just having all kinds of FUN with their cousins!  The adults were able to get away a few times ourselves to have some fun skiing together without our kids making fun of us!  Thanks guys for inviting us to come along & crash your party!  We had a GREAT time!  Of course I took a TON of pictures--but here are some of my favorites!
Our houseboat was called "Making Memories"--and BOY did we make some memories!  We will always remember trying to get the houseboat to actually DRIVE STRAIGHT!  They don't really give you lessons you know--you just show up & they say "have a great time!"  We were laughing so hard as we fishtailed it out into the open water!  The boys eventually figured it out!  Too funny!
The kids are CRAZY!  They didn't even hesitate to jump off a 50 foot cliff!
Rainbow Bridge!
Josh absolutely LOVED fishing off the houseboat!  He caught a HUGE carp--and was mad when we let it go back into the water...
He goes, "MOM--I wanted to hang that up on the wall in the cabin!"
Todd says, "Son, we don't hang CARP up on the wall!"
He says--"Yes they do--I've seen them in restaurants!"
Too funny!  Love this kid!
